杨勇,男,工学博士,教授,博士生导师,现任材料科学与工程学院副院长,河北省新型功能材料重点实验室主任,河北工业大学校学术委员会委员。河北省杰出青年科学基金获得者、首批“河北省青年拔尖人才”、河北省“三三三人才工程”第二层次人选、河北省高校百名优秀创新人才、天津市“131”创新型人才培养工程二层次人选;中国机械工程学会表面工程分会委员,中国热处理学会青年工作委员会委员,全国涂层检测与表征标准化分技术委员会委员,河北省机械工程学会理事;《热喷涂技术》杂志第一届青年编委会编委等。

近年来在先进材料与防护研究领域做了大量研究工作,承担科研课题20余项,主持国家自然科学基金5项。研究成果获得省级技术发明二等奖1项,省级自然科学二等奖1项,通用电气基金科技创新奖二等奖1项。
